Population ecology and damage potential of mirid bugs infesting sorghum panicles in Northern Ghana

2005
Head bug populations on sorghum panicles increased weekly from flowering up to the dough stage in both local (guiniense) and improved (caudatum) sorghums. The variety Kapaala appeared to be more susceptible to head bugs than Kobori and Malisor 84-7. To grow Kapaala profitably, steps need to be taken to control head bugs. Early planting reduced the incidence of head bugs and increased grain yield and quality in all the varieties. Copyright © 2005 Whurr Publishers Ltd.
