Ceramic Processing Techniques for Catalyst Design: Formation, Properties, and Catalytic Example of ZSM‐5 on 3‐Dimensional Fiber Deposition Support Structures

2012
Material science and catalysis play an important role in the chemical industry. Porous ceramics and metals are highly relevant in this field. There are plenty of applications for porous functional components, with engineered pores sizes ranging from micro to macro pores. A novel type of structured catalyst is introduced: support structures manufactured by three-dimensional fiber deposition coated by a thin mordenite framework inverted type zeolite film. Surface coverage, homogeneity, and stability are evaluated. The effect of the design of the support structure on the catalytic activity will be studied in an environmental catalysis application, that is, the decomposition of nitrous oxide as a demonstrator.
