Methods of coating a can of food or drink

A method of coating a food can or beverage, the method comprising: providing a coating composition comprising a polymer latex polymer emulsion, wherein the latex polymer emulsion-polymerized: (i) comprises a reaction product a component of ethylenically unsaturated monomer polymerized in the presence of an aqueous dispersion of a polymer salt, wherein the component of ethylenically unsaturated monomer includes at least one monomer containing an oxirane functional group, and (ii) is substantially free of bisphenol A link and aromatic glycidyl ether; and applying the coating composition to a metal substrate before or after forming the metal substrate into a can for food or drink or a portion thereof.
