NUMERICAL STUDY OF THE CRITICAL PARAMETERS ON GAS CARBON DIOXIDE HYDRATE FORMATION AND GAS METHANE HYDRATE DECOMPOSITION

2011
There are evidence about the presence of oceanic deposits of methane hydrates on the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, some of them have being evaluated and analyzed with greater emphasis. One study has showed the possibility to found gas hydrates accumulations on the Continental Shelf of Venezuela. On this sense, a growing interest in this type of non conventional reservoir; joined by the important challenge as a one of the major gas proven reserves country in the world and the flow assurance issues associated has triggered the development of several activities related with gas hydrates either as a potential energy source or a matter to prevent and mitigate during the gas production and distribution system. Recently, the interest in the opportunities to storage carbon dioxide from different sources has also become important. In order to obtain major acknowledge in the challenge to sequestrate carbon dioxide some potential alternative are under consideration. The alternative method of gas methane hydrate production by using CO2 injection is consider under investigation, although the laboratories results obtained evidence several attractive features in this process there are only a few studies are reported in the literature about numerical simulation of this complex process.
