Learning, Work and Embodied Knowledge Amongst Disabled and Aboriginal Women

2011
Learning and work amongst disabled persons and Aboriginal persons has been under-researched, and only a few articles have addressed their concerns (Abbas, 2003; Baines, 2008; Church, Frazee, Panitch, Luciani & Bowman, 2008). My future research will investigate the formal and informal learning of disabled women, Aboriginal women and disabled Aboriginal women. The results from this research will inform practices which will assist women to manage change within different components of work. My future research will aim to address this gap in the literature. In this presentation, I will begin to discuss my positioning, methodologies and methods for my future research. To complement the theoretical literature, I will discuss the findings of two interviews which I conducted to gain perspective and experience in qualitative research. My interpretations will comment on the transcribed interviews as well as on the larger body of literature on learning, work and embodied knowledge.
