MIXED DISSOCIATIVE STATES IN A COMBAT PTSD PATIENT TRIGGERED BY RE-TRAUMATISATION 15 YEARS AFTER THE TRAUMATIC WAR EXPERIENCE - CASE REPORT

2014
Over the past two decades, there has been more focus on the concept of dissociation in patients experiencing both acute and/or chronic combat-related trauma. We report a case of a 40-year war veteran with PTSD, with symptoms indicating presence of intermittent dissociative states following re-traumatisation fifteen years after the war trauma. This unusual clinical scenario presented a challenging clinical case which does not meet criteria of the current classification for dissociative disorders.
