Thermoacoustic waves in a cylindrical Couette rarefied gas flow

2014
The thermoacoustic waves arising in cylindrical rarefied gas Couette flow between rotating cylinders is studied in the cases of suddenly rotation direction turn on the one or the two active cylinders. Based on the developed in previous publications Navier-Stokes-Fourier model and Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method and their numerical solutions, are considered non-stationary transients process in the gas phase. Macroscopic flow characteristics (velocity, density, temperature, pressure) and the viscous and thermal interaction of the gas with the walls are received. The typical cases involving different combinations of the kinematic boundary conditions on the walls are considered. The wave's distribution and attenuation are studied numerically.
