ESTUDIO DE LA INTELIGENCIA EMOCIONAL Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA SATISFACCIÓN VITAL Y LAS EMOCIONES POSITIVAS EN ESTUDIANTES DE PSICOLOGÍA

En las ultimas decadas, la investigacion en el contexto educativo se ha centrado en el rol que la Inteligencia Emocional (IE) tiene en la Satisfaccion Vital de los estudiantes. Se ha advertido que la IE ayuda a afrontar con exito los problemas cotidianos y el estres academico, asi como tambien contribuye a la formacion y futura insercion profesional. La presente investigacion, con una muestra de 270 estudiantes de Psicologia, se ha propuesto: a) analizar la relacion existente entre IE, Satisfaccion Vital y Emociones Positivas en dichos participantes; b) evaluar si la IE varia en funcion del genero, situacion ocupacional (trabajo/no trabajo) y tipo de carrera (Psicologia, Ingenieria, Geografia y Ciencias Ambientales), c) analizar el papel de la IE como predictor de la Satisfaccion Vital. Se ha advertido que los estudiantes de psicologia con altos niveles de IE muestran mayor Satisfaccion Vital y mayor nivel de Emociones Positivas. No se registraron diferencias significativas segun genero ni situacion laboral en los estudiantes de psicologia. Existen diferencias en la IE segun tipo de carrera, a favor del grupo de Psicologia. Ha sido particularmente relevante el papel del Bienestar Psicologico como dimension de la IE, en la Satisfaccion Vital de los participantes. Abstract EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH LIFE SATISFACTIONAND POSITIVE EMOTIONS IN PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS In the last decades, research in the educational field has been focused in the role of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in life satisfaction in students. It has been noticed that EI helps to cope successfully with everyday problems and academic stress and it contributes to professional formation and future employability, as well. This research, with a sample of 270 psychology students, aimed the following goals: (a) analyze the relation between EI, Life Satisfaction and Positive Emotions in the participants; (b) assess whether EI varies according to gender,occupational status (employed/unemployed) and kind of career (Psychology, Geography, Environmental Sciences); (c) analyze the role of EI as predictor of Life Satisfaction. The results inform that Psychology students with high EI exhibit higher Life Satisfaction and higher levels of Positive Emotions. No significant differences were observed according to gender or occupational status in Psychology students. Differences were found in EI levels according to kind of career, favoring Psychology students. It has been particularly relevant the role of Psychological Well-being as an EI dimension, in the level of Life Satisfaction of the participants.
