Sural neurovascular flap on reconstruction and repair of soft tissue defects in foot

Objective To investigate the clinical results of sural neurovascular flap on reconstruction and repair of soft tissue defects in foot.Methods 16 cases of soft tissue defects in feet were repaired by use of sural neurovascular flap,The flap area ranged from 5 cm×7cm to 10 cm×24cm,including 10 cases of foot dorsum defects,6 cases soft tissue defect of heel.Results The flaps survived completely in 16 cases,whereas 1 cases got with distal edge of the flap partially bled;All case were followed up for 4to 24 months.All case got good appearance and some patients restored weight bearing with practice.Conclusions Sural neurovascular flap is excellent in color and texture,convenient in design and dissection.It can be used for repair of soft tissue defects in foot.
