Chylothorax is a rare, but very serious complication of extensive chest surgery (cardiac surgery for congenital heart disease), as well as congenital problem, or consequence of proliferative processes in the chest. We present the causes of chylothorax, diagnostic process, and pharmacological or surgical therapeutic options.
