Discussion on pathological change of raised erosive gastritis caused by different etiology

2012
Objective To study the difference of symptoms such as gastric mucosa atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and atypical hyperplasia of raised erosive gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infections or other factors. Methods One hundred and sixty two patients diagnosed as raised erosive gastritis in our hospital from January 2010 to January 2012 were chosen as research object. The patients were separated into two groups based on the C14 breath test, one was caused by Hp infections whose C14 breath test was positive, and the other caused by other factors whose C14 breath test was negative. The raised erosive stoves of all the patients were given biopsy and send for pathologic examination. The conditions of the mucosa atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and atypical hyperplasia were compared in the two groups. Results There were 89 Hp infection positive patients (54.9%) and 73 Hp infection negative patients (45.1%) in all the patients with raised erosive gastritis. The Hp infection group had a higher positive ratio of glands atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and atypical hyperplasia than the group caused by other factors, and the difference had statistical significance (P 0.05).Conclusion Patients of gastric mucosa atrophy caused by Hp infections are easier to have symptoms of glands atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and atypical hyperplasia than patients of gastric mucosa atrophy caused by other factors.
