Numerical simulations of alternating current loss of high temperature superconductors in the liquid nitrogen region

2010
The frequency f and amplitude B0 of applied magnetic field dependence of the loss behavior in the liquid nitrogen region is studied in high temperature superconducting slabs. The magnetothermal diffusion equations based on the power-law model are presented in this paper to estimate the effect of f and B0 on the loss. Numerical results obtained show that, generally, the loss is proportional to B03 in the nonpenetration field and to B0 in the penetration field, and the loss power is proportional to f whether the magnetic field penetrates it or not.
