Ocimum basilicum belongs to the family labiatae and is commonly known as Basil (Tulsi). It is a widespread plant cultivated in the world. It grows to a height of approximately 50 cm. The leaves are oval and slightly toothed, and the flowers are white or purple. Ocimum basilicum looks very similar, but grows a bit taller (50-80 cm). Ocimum basilicum is the most widely used. It is used in cosmetics, liqueurs, medicines and perfumes.
