Storage Capacitors, Start and Crowbar Switches and Inductors for High Beta Plasma Experiments

An introductory description of the “Eta-beta” device, built in Padua for the production of toroidal axisymmetric plasmas, is given. The design of the main components is briefly discussed and the results of a number of design and operating tests performed are reported. Some problems of “reliability” and “life” are also considered.
