Tuberculosis control in a border state: Treatment of the foreign-born

The epidemiology of tuberculosis (TB) in the United States is changing, with more foreign-born and fewer native-born residents developing TB. TB control in the foreign-born population presents different challenges for successful treatment. As a result of long-term immigration patterns, US border states are experienced in dealing with these challenges. Their perspectives may be useful to other programs observing a changing TB patient population. This article explores some of these issues.
