Estimulação da Medula Espinhal para o Tratamento da Dor Neuropática Crônica

2018
Spinal cord stimulation has been reported to be effective for the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain. Material and methods: We report our experience with 308 patients treated by spinal cord stimulation for chronic neuropathic sciatic pain with a long term follow-up. All of them had failed to respond to previous pain therapies. The mean follow up was 7.8 years. Results: Pain relief was observed in the majority of the patients (95%): 49% of them experienced an excellent pain relief (no more pain), 28% good pain relief (greater than 70%), 18.4% moderate (between 25 and 70%) and 4.6% observed no pain relief. Conclusions: Spinal cord stimulation is a useful therapy, with good results in a long term follow-up for patients suffering from chronic neuropathic pain, refractory to other modalities. It is a non-destructive, adjustable and reversible technique.
