A combined theory of heterogeneous nucleation and adsorption of vapors on solid surfaces

2013
A new theory is derived that predicts both vapor adsorption on solid substrates at subsaturated conditions, and heterogeneous nucleation at supersaturation. The new theory is based on a combination of the FHH adsorption isotherm, and the Kelvin effect. The theory is applied to heterogeneous nucleation of water vapor.
