A study on livability in Thanjavur semi urban area, Tamilnadu, India

Abstract Housing and walkability are two important areas where constructive suggestions and implementations both in terms of physical and policy level can be made for the betterment of aging population. Issue of affordability, regulations like setback, diversity and density of housing will be discussed in the research. Suggestions for street design, improving the connectivity, installation of sidewalks and street furniture will be the focus as far as walkability is concerned for the community. Improving conditions of housing as per people’s demand and developing pedestrian infrastructure in the city will also promote both physical and mental health of the people in community. Besides this with proper street furniture neighborhoods will be more safety and promote liveliness in thecommunity.
