Theoretical principles governing the choice of optimum parameters of track-laying tractors

1968
Abstract The parameters affecting the efficiency of track-laying tractors and their drawbar performance are analysed. The theoretical considerations were verified in trials with a special tractor in which the track gauge and length, position of the centre of gravity and the specific ground pressure could be varied. Mineral soils were represented by loam and soils of low bearing capacity by a peat-bog. From the results nomograms were plotted, relating the weight of the tractor, its efficiency, specific ground pressure and coefficients expressing the drawbar performance.
