An Overview of Digital Beamforming Implemented on SDR Platforms

Beamforming is a key element in current wireless communications, being employed by a broad variety of applications due to the important impact on the system performance. This paper presents a survey of the state of the art of digital beamforming with SDRs. Several algorithm implementations, linear and circular antenna array configurations and transmit/receive operations are pointed out, showing the benefits of the beamforming implementations on SDR in terms of interference mitigation and improved SNR.
