The molecular weight distributions of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis products

2002
An approach to elucidating the reason for one of the most frequent deviations (nonlinearity of the molecular weight distribution of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis products) from the classic Anderson-Schultz-Flori distribution is suggested. This nonlinearity can be caused either by changes in the probability of chain growth under the conditions of product formation by the Herington scheme or by growth of chains of C-C bonds by two mechanisms simultaneously. The reason for deviations can be determined by analyzing the behavior of the distributions under reaction condition variations. The conclusion is drawn that nonlinear distributions of C 4 + hydrocarbons on a Co/SiO 2 . Zr(IV) catalyst are observed because C-C bond chains grow by two mechanisms simultaneously.
