Ethical Issues in Pedagogic Research in HE: a practitioner's perspective

In this 10 minutes workshop, I am going to highlight and discuss some ethical issues I have encountered when I am engaged with development of pedagogical research projects with academics in Greenwich. Theoretically, it will discuss ethical issues when professionals conduct action research into their own practices. Practically, I will describe two examples, and talk through two pedagogic research designs which both focus on evaluating effectiveness of peer assessment in two different subject contexts. It will elaborate on how ethical issues should be discussed and considered differently according to different research designs. The aim of the short talk is to raise awareness of ethical issues and logistic issues relating to pedagogic research into our own teaching practice. It hopes to gerenate discussions on how to improve research design from an ethical perspective.
