The Curative Effect Observation on Refractory Ascites from Hepatic Cirrhosis with Combined Treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine,A Report of 48 Cases

Objective: To observe the curative effect of method of benefiting qi and promoting blood flow to alleviate water retention on refractory ascites from hepatic cirrhosis. Method: 48 cases in the treatment group suffered from refractory ascites from hepatic cirrhosis were treated by the method of benefiting qi and promoting blood flow to alleviate water retention. 40 cases in the control group were treated by western medicine only. Result: In the treatment group 14 cases were excellent,28 cases were effective,and 6 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 87.5%. And in the control group 9 cases were excellent,19 cases were effective,and 12 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 70%. The difference between the two groups was significant(P0.05). The difference of recurrence rates between the two groups (28.57% and 53.57%) was significant,too (P0.05). Conclusion: Method of benefiting qi and promoting blood flow to alleviate water retention on refractory ascites from hepatic cirrhosis can shorten treatment course and improve curative effect more effectively than only western medicine can.
