Effect of Sowing Rates and Nitrogen Levels on the Growth and Yield of Wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.)

2017
The wheat variety Anmol-91 was planted on 100, 125 and 150 kg ha -1 of seed rate and fertilized with 100, 150 and 200 kg N ha -1 using four replicated Randomized Complete Block Design. It was found that plant height, tillers plant, number of spikeletsspike -1 , number of grains spike -1 , seed weight plant -1 , seed index and grain yield responded highly significant differences under both the seed rates and N levels, while their interaction and seed index displayed non-significant differences for all the except seed index. The data revealed that sowing rale of 150 and 150 kg ha -1 produced equally maximum grain yield (4333 and 4513 kg ha -1 ). The Results showed further demonstrated that application of 200 kg N ha -1 resulted in maximum grain yield (4590 kg ha -1 ) over rest of the N levels. It is concluded that for getting better grain yield in wheat 125 kg sowing rale of with 200 kg N ha-1 is recommended.
