Background Portal hypertensive gastropathy (PHG) is a common endoscopic finding in patients with cirrhosis. However, the relationship between PHG and portal hypertension is controversial. Furthermore, nothing is known regarding the correlation between PHG and prognosis in patients with cirrhosis.
