Achievements in modeling environmental and resource issues in the secondary sector

1986
Abstract This paper addresses methodological issues regarding statistical and econometric modeling techniques for environmental and resource planning. After a review of a selected set of integrated models, a plea is made for an integrated systems approach in order to improve the coherence and consistency of integrated economic-ecological models. The paper also formulates a set of design criteria for integrated environmental models, and these criteria are used to evaluate three recently developed design principles, viz. the satellite design, the multiple layer projection design and the super model design. The paper concludes with an outlook for further research.
