Fibroma ossificante periférico de grandes proporções: relato de caso clínico

O fibroma ossificante periferico (FOP) consiste em uma lesao proliferativa nao neoplasica bucal de etiologia traumatica. Neste trabalho e relatado um incomum caso clinico de FOP de dimensoes exageradas, localizado na cavidade bucal de paciente economicamente carente e com precarias condicoes de saude oral. GMKL, do sexo feminino, com 46 anos de idade, procurou atendimento odontologico apresentando um crescimento tecidual na regiao maxilar superior direita, medindo aproximadamente 5 cm de diâmetro, cujo tratamento foi realizado com sucesso atraves de excisao cirurgica convencional da lesao, extracao dos dentes remanescentes proximos a hiperplasia e curetagem do leito cirurgico. A partir da realizacao do presente estudo, alem de apresentar a classe odontologica um caso de FOP de grandes proporcoes, ressalta-se a importância dos cuidados basicos com a saude bucal, tanto por parte do paciente, quanto pelos servicos publicos de saude(AU) Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a prolific lesion, non bucal neoplastic of traumatic etiology. In this work, an uncommon clinical case of exaggerated dimensions is reported. It is located in the bucal cavity of a patient who is economically deprived and with precarious health oral conditions. GMKL, female, aging 46 years old who was looking for dental service, showing tissue growing in the right superior maxilar, measuring nearly 5cm diameter, which treatment was successfully carried out through conventional surgical excision of the lesion, extraction of the remaining teeth closed to the hyperplasia and curettage of the surgical bed. From the accomplishment of the present study, besides presenting to the surgical dental class a case of POF, of great proportions, it is highlighted the importance of the basic cares with bucal health by the patient as well as by the public health services(AU)
