The Logic Puzzle

The Logic Puzzle is a very simple game attached to a computer adaptive, psychometric scoring system. The game accurately and reliably measures an underlying psychological trait, the ability to figure out what has to be true given that other things are true, what Daniel Kahneman calls ‘slow thinking’ and what we call ‘rationality’. A relationship with Coursera provides regular access to a large number of test takers. Presently the game has been played by a geographically diverse group of about 30,000. As part of a dissertation in quantitative psychology at UNC, Teague Henry has shown our assessment to be psychometrically valid on the basis of the data collected. We are now seeking to establish correlations with business and educational outcomes. It is the first of a series of assessments guided by a specifically philosophical conception of critical reasoning.
