Kolonoskopi yapılan olgularda deksmedetomidin ve midozolam'ın sedatif etkinliğinin karşılaştırılması

2009
Background and Aims: There is no clear information about which drug is the most suitable agent for colonoscopy. In this study, we aimed to compare the sedative effects of dexmedetomidine and midazolam used for sedation during colonoscopy. Materials and Methods: We randomly assigned 50 patients scheduled for diagnostic colonoscopy into two groups: Group M, with sedation with intravenous midazolam and Group D, with sedation and analgesia with dexmedetomidine. All patients were over 18 years of age, with ASA status 1-2. Group M was treated with 0.1 mg/kg midazolam intravenously (iv). Group D was treated with 0.7 μg/kg/h iv dexmedetomidine infusion after applying 1 μg/kg/min midazolam for 10 min. Trail A, Trail B and digit span tests were applied before and after the procedure. Sedation quality was scored with Ramsey Sedation Scale and Visual Analog Scale. Endoscopist and patient satisfaction, recovery and sedation times, effects of the agents on neurophysiologic function, and complications were recorded. Results: The recovery time was longer in Group D than in Group M (p
