INFLUENCE OF MOLECULAR CHLORINE ON THE OUTPUT ENERGY OF A PULSED OXYGEN-IODINE CHEMICAL LASER

1991
An experimental investigation was made of the influence of molecular chlorine on the output energy of a pulsed oxygen–iodine chemical laser using CH3I and CF3I atomic iodine donors. It was found that for CF3I the addition of appreciable (0.5 Torr) quantities of chlorine to the singlet oxygen stream reduced only negligibly the output energy, whereas for CH3I the lasing was suppressed at chlorine concentrations an order of magnitude lower.
