Uniaxial anisotropy and temperature driven magnetization reversal of Fe deposited on a MnAs/GaAs(001) magnetic template

2008
We investigated the magnetic behavior of a $5\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{nm}$ thick Fe layer deposited on a ferromagnetic $\mathrm{Mn}\mathrm{As}∕\mathrm{Ga}\mathrm{As}(001)$ template by using resonant magnetic scattering of polarized soft x rays. The Fe film displays in-plane uniaxial anisotropy and its magnetization can be modified and reversed by fine-tuning the substrate temperature around ambient because of the self-organization of the coexisting ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases of the template.
