Genetic Diversity of Hordein in Beer Barley

2006
Genetic diversity of germplasm was important in breeding. In order to use germplasm resource more effecicntly, the genetic diversity of hordein among 44 beer barleys was analyzed by acidic poly acrylamide gel electrophoresis (A-PAGE). 33 hordein patterns were identified in those materials, and no one was uniform, which indicated that 33 alleles in these materials were polymorphic. 29 types of hordein patterns were obtained from the tested materials, which showed that the hordein patterns of beer barleys were notably various. 24 materials had their unique hordein patterns, the other 5 types of hordein patterns were common in several materials. Heterotic grouping mapping showed that 44 materials were clustered into 2 major groups, and the first group was classified into 2 subgroups. The findings suggested that the hordein patterns in beer barley were greatly various.
