Molecular Biology Tools for Monitoring Biodiversity in Wastewater Treatment Plants

The group of organisms most directly associated with wastewater treatment is bacteria. They dominate all other groups, both in numbers and biomass, and lead to mineralization and elimination of organic and inorganic compounds (1).
