Avaliação do estado nutricional de escolares regularmente matriculados em escolas da região urbana da rede pública municipal, do Município de Tubarão – SC

Objective: to evaluate the nutritional status of students enrolled in schools of the public system located in the urban area of the city of Tubarao – SC. Methodology: Transversal study, counting with 291 students of three schools of the public system of Tubarao – SC. For this study several variable data, such as weight, height, age, sex, grade and period of study were gathered. The data regarding weight and height were associated with age, resulting in the IBM/age results; the anthropometic data were associated to age, resulting, therefore, the Weight/Age and Height/Age values and, through those references, the nutritional status was classified, as recommended by the World Health Organization ( WHO). Results: the study revealed a predominant amount of obesity and overweight, indicating the need of developing actions for Food and Nutrition Education, aiming the improvement of the students nutritional status.
