Problemi ambientali delle grandi aree urbane: strumenti per la loro gestione

In the planning of large urban areas sustainable development a lot of different items, such as water quality, energy use, traffic, urban solid wastes, life quality, etc., must be taken into account together with air pollution. Systemic analyses must be performed to cope with complex connections and relations, so that the results may be quite different from those obtained by the mere sum of sectoral analyses. Nevertheless, Administrations have to face a situation characterized by substantially inadequate environmental data bases and decision support systems. In this frame, CISE has performed a feasability study relevant to an Integrated System for the large Urban Areas statistical data management (SITAU) and has carried out a preliminary version of it.
