The effects of washing on LiNi0.83Co0.13Mn0.04O2 cathode materials

Abstract In this paper, the effects of washing on the structure and electrochemical properties of LiNi 0.83 Co 0.13 Mn 0.04 O 2 cathode material were researched. The results show that partial loose fine powder in cracks between primany particles fell off during the washing process. LiNi 0.83 Co 0.13 Mn 0.04 O 2 can react with H 2 O, resulting in the loss of Li in the lattice structure of the material. This will bring more Ni 2+ into the Li layer and increase the degree of cationic mixing. In addition, when LiNi 0.83 Co 0.13 Mn 0.04 O 2 reacts with H 2 O, NiO phase will be generated. In terms of the electrochemical properties, the first discharge efficiency of the material increases after washing. With the extension of water washing time, the material reacts with water further and the recycling performance deteriorates further.
