Gastric retention associated with gastroduodenal disease. A study of 17 cases.

1966
Two hundred and seventeen hospitalized male veterans were found to have evidence of gastric retention due to local disease, usually duodenal ulcer. The diagnosis of gastric retention was clinically unsuspected in one–third, often because of “ayptical” features. For example, half did not have typical obstructive vomiting, and one–sixth had no vomiting.
