Deflection of Straight Edge Supported on Two Points by Moving Indicator (7th Report)
1966
In the preceding reports, the straight edge was supported to be deflected as small as possible, when an indicator was moved only between two support points, Then its deflection was very small, but the straight edge was availably used only a half its overall length. In this research, in order to increase an available length, the dead weights are applied at the two ends of the straight edge. There is a relation among support points, dead weight, weight of indicator and straight edge, in order to get minimum deflection and long available length, when an indicator is slided between two support points. As the result, the deflection is slightly increased in comparison with the former, but the available range is very longer.
