2009
SUMMARY
This work represents ergonomic analysis undertaken by 12 students attending the final two semesters of their Physiotherapy course at the Paraiba Federal University in the field of a supervised internship of obligatory studies. This is a 4-month class with a required attendance of four times a week, for four hours each day. The activities of manually transferring patients and resistance, hands-on exercises were reported by 7/12 and 5/12 interns as the most unsatisfactory duties performed within internship environment, while 10/12 complained about lower trunk flexion as the most uncomfortable occupational posture. Attention is required to the importance of this issue and there is a need to conduct new studies, focused on health promotion and prevention of occupational conditions conducive to physiotherapy students during practical internships. This focus would increase their productivity and effectiveness with the patients’ assistance and care.
