Provided is a 4-alkynyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one derivative which has a high purity and has been less colored and which is utilizable as an additive for electrolytic solutions for nonaqueous-electrolyte secondary batteries. Also provided is a process by which the compound reduced in impurity content can be produced in high yield. A 4-alkynyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one derivative which has a high purity and has been less colored can be efficiently produced in satisfactory yield by distilling a crude reaction product containing the 4-alkynyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one derivative at a reduced pressure in a specific range, by synthesizing the derivative through specific reactions via a specific compound, and by designing a process by combining the kinds of starting materials to be reacted, the kinds of materials to be used in the reactions, intermediate production conditions, intermediate purification conditions, etc.
