The Animal Experimental Study on the Correlation between Transient Synovitis and Perthes’Disease-Observation on the Changes in Noradrenaline Induced Synovitis

2004
Objective:To study the causal correlation between transient synovitis of hip and Perthes’ disease. Methods: Forty 2-3 months old dogs were divided into 4 groups randomly and subjected to injection of 0.2% NA into the hip joint. Three assessments have been used in the experiment: (1) 99m TC MDP triphasic imaging was used to observe the local blood supply of femoral head; (2) Intra articular pressure was determined; (3) Pathological changes were observed to understand the natural course of the disease process. Results: Noradrenaline could result in the changes of the local blood supply of femoral head and transient synovitis of hip. There was no any necrosis of femoral head observed. Conclusion: Noradrenaline may be play an important role in the pathogenesis of transient synovitis of hip and transient synovitis is probably a separate disease entity and not antecedent to Perthes’ disease.
