Interchromosomal fibers: human ultrastructural study by a recent technique.
1974
The authors examined interchromosomal fibers from normal lymphocyte cultures, using the technique of whole mount chromosomes, without water spreading. Evidence for interchromosomal fibers is given. A discussion of the hypothetic origin of these fibers is presented, with examination of the nucleus from interphase to metaphase. These bridges may be a vestige of the network configuration of the interphase nucleus. The interchromosomal fibers were often found to be in the telomeric region, but no statistical studies have been made of this area.
