Cylinder Test (Paw Reach Test)

2010
The cylinder test evaluates lateralized motor impairment in rodents, by monitoring the spontaneous placing of the two forepaws to balance when rearing. Unilateral brain lesions typically reduce the use of the contralateral paw. The test provides a simple and sensitive screen for drugs, gene therapy, and cell transplantation repair.
