Design Algorithm for a High-Power Density Interleaved ZVT-PWM Boost Converter

In this paper a novel design algorithm for an interleaved “zero voltage transition-pulse width modulation” (ZVT-PWM) converter is presented. It provides a guidance for the dimensioning of auxiliary circuit components, minimizing the switching losses in the converter and allowing a high switching frequency operation. First, a detailed analytical description of the ZVT-PWM converter is provided with consideration of the current ripple in the main inductance. The design algorithm is explained in detail and its effectiveness is evaluated through comprehensive loss simulation over a wide variety of operating points.
