Objective:To research prescription evaluation methods and tools,and to achieve the purpose of rational use of drugs and therapy optimization.Methods:Through domestic and foreign literature search,finding prescription evaluation methods,criteria or screening tools.Results:Commonly used prescription evaluation methods include:prospective;concurrent and retrospective review.Prescription evaluation tools include: prescription comment standard in hospital,Beers Criteria,Medication Appropriateness Index (MAI),Assessing Care Of Vulnerable Elders (ACOVE),Medication-Related Problems (MRP),Screening Tool to Alert doctors to the Right Treatment (START) and Screening Tool of Older Persons' potentially inappropriate Prescriptions (STOPP). Conclusion:Abroad prescription evaluation methods and tools provide a useful reference for clinical pharmacists to carry out medication evaluation,development of criteria and indicators.
