Experimental Argentine Hemorrhagic Fever in Rhesus Macaques: Viral Strain-Dependent Clinical Response
1985
Abstract : Recently, we evaluated rhesus macaques as a potential disease model for AHF. Three of four low-passage strains of Junin virus that were administered to these animals produced severe disease accurately reflected the clinical features of human AHF. These studies establish the utility of Macacca mulatta as a model for human infection with Junin virus and suggest that differences in virus strains may influence patterns of biologic response.
