Standardized Progressive Matrices (Raven, Raven, & Court, 1998), a culture fair test of intelligence was used as an instrument to gauge intelligence level of the respondents. The academic achievement was assessed through annual examination scores. Intelligence as measured by Raven’s Standardized Progressive Matrices was found to be the best predictor of students’ performance in grade point average (GPA). Results indicated significant correlation between intelligence and academic achievement level, r 2 = .655; p .01] and [X 2 (4, n=200) .44, p>.01] respectively, suggesting that intelligence and academics do not depend on gender.
