Future Research Questions
2014
During the past few decades, research, practices, and treatments related to drowning have shown a significant shift toward evidence-based methods. Moving into the future, search and recovery activities, forensic and medicolegal issues, and safety investigations concerning drowning should become increasingly evidence-based as well. Moreover, research on the physiopathology of drowning and studies of drowning epidemiology should better exploit and take advantage of forensic studies which provide a more precise assessment of the cause and factors leading to death in water than do the circumstances alone.
