What Happens When Everyone "Flushes" at the Same Time? - Case Studies on Management of Wet Weather Flow Events

2012
Many utilities are faced with the challenge of providing additional peak wet weather treatment capacity at their wastewater treatment plants and within the collection system. Unlike in the past where most of the regulatory focus has been placed on larger utilities, the pressure is now extending to small and mid-sized utilities. As progressively more utilities make improvements to address regulatory requirements and begin to treat higher rates of influent flow, it is increasingly important to understand and document treatment strategies and the operational nuances associated with them. This provides six examples of facilities where wet weather strategies have or are going to be implemented to increase wet weather treatment capacity.
