Relato de cuidadores-familiares sobre o câncer: um estudo de representações sociais

Objective: To understand the social representations of family caregivers about the process they establish with cancer patients and their implications for care of the self. Method: This is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach, based on the theoretical conceptual contribution of the Theory of Social Representations created by Serge Moscovici. Results: The representation is capable of directing the behavior of the caregiver, whose elements of the environment in which the behavior is developed can be reconstructed and refurbished, with the purpose of improving or even planning together with the team a better individualized or collective care to the patient. Conclusion: Given the need to establish a clear, open and confident correlation, it should not only be limited to the way the health professional expresses it, but also be attentive to how the caregiver perceives the obstacles received and their Needs
